Open Accept - Terms of Use
Last Updated: October 23, 2025
1. Acceptance of Terms
Welcome to Open Accept (the "Service"). These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Open Accept website (the "Website") and related services. By accessing or using the Service, you signify that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree with these Terms, you must not use the Service.
We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to modify or update these Terms at any time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the revised Terms on the Website and by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of these Terms. Your continued use of the Service after any such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
2. Service Description
The Open Accept provides a platform to display and analyze various acceptance rate data, aiming to offer informative references to users. The content of this Service may include, but is not limited to, data visualizations, trend analyses, articles, and user comments.
Please note that the information provided by this Service is for reference purposes only and does not constitute professional advice or guarantees of any kind. Users should exercise their own judgment regarding the accuracy and applicability of the information.
3. Community Contributions
The Open Accept thrives on community collaboration. Much of the data and analytical content on this Service is contributed, edited, and refined by its community members.
3.1 Agreement to CC BY-SA 4.0 for Contributions
By participating in community editing, contributing data, analyses, or any other content to the Service (collectively, "Contributions"), you explicitly agree to license your Contributions under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-SA 4.0) License. This agreement is irrevocable once the Contribution is made. If you do not agree to irrevocably license your Contributions under CC BY-SA 4.0, you must not participate in community editing or make any Contributions to the Service.
3.2 Responsibility for Contributions
You are solely responsible for your Contributions and for ensuring that they comply with these Terms and all applicable laws. You warrant that you have all necessary rights to license your Contributions under CC BY-SA 4.0, and that your Contributions do not infringe upon the intellectual property rights, privacy rights, or any other rights of any third party.
4. User Conduct
You agree to use the Service in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and rules. You must not use the Service to:
- Post, transmit, or otherwise make available any content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, obscene, harassing, hateful, or racially, ethnically, or otherwise objectionable.
- Infringe upon the intellectual property rights, privacy rights, or other legal rights of others.
- Post any files that contain viruses, malicious code, or other programs that may damage the Service or other computer systems.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any portion of the Service, other user accounts, or computer systems.
- Interfere with or disrupt the proper functioning of the Service.
- Engage in any fraudulent, false, or misleading activity.
- Violate any other conduct explicitly prohibited by these Terms.
If you violate this User Conduct policy, we reserve the right to take appropriate action, including, but not limited to, issuing warnings, restricting account functionality, freezing accounts, or terminating services, without any liability for compensation.
5. Personal Information
The Open Accept service itself does not record any personal information of its users when they browse or view content.
However, when you participate in community editing or make Contributions to the Service, you may do so through third-party platforms (including, but not limited to: GitHub, Google Docs, and any other collaborative document editors). These third-party platforms may require you to log in or operate under a specific identity (e.g., a username, an email address linked to your commits).
Due to the nature of collaborative editing and version control, records of Contributions, including the identity associated with those Contributions on the third-party platform, will be permanently retained as part of the public editing history. This retention is essential for the integrity and transparency of the community-driven data and analysis.
By participating in community editing, you acknowledge and agree that your identity information from the relevant third-party platform will be publicly associated with your Contributions and permanently stored as part of the Service's editing history. If you do not wish for your identity information to be publicly associated with your Contributions and permanently retained, you must not participate in community editing.
6. Intellectual Property & Content Licensing
6.1 Service Content Licensing (CC BY-SA 4.0)
Unless otherwise stated, all content provided on the Open Accept, including but not limited to data visualizations, articles, text, graphics, and underlying data, is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-SA 4.0) License.
Under this license, you are free to:
- Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format.
- Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material.
As long as you follow the license terms:
- Attribution — You must give appropriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made. You may do so in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the licensor endorses you or your use.
- ShareAlike — If you remix, transform, or build upon the material, you must distribute your contributions under the same license as the original.
- No additional restrictions — You may not apply legal terms or technological measures that legally restrict others from doing anything the license permits.

6.2 Service Design and Code
The underlying software, design, branding, and proprietary elements of the Open Accept website and service (excluding user-submitted or CC-licensed content) are the exclusive property of Open Accept or its licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of these proprietary elements without our express written permission.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties and Limitation of Liability
7.1 Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided on an "as-is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
Any information, whether oral or written, obtained by you from Open Accept or through the Service will not create any warranty not expressly stated in these Terms.
We do not endorse, support, or guarantee the legality, accuracy, or reliability of any third-party content displayed on the Service and assume no responsibility for it.
7.2 Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall Open Accept, its affiliates, officers, employees, agents, or licensors be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, punitive, or consequential damages (including, but not limited to, loss of profits, data, or business interruption) arising out of your use or inability to use the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
You agree that Open Accept shall not be responsible or liable for any loss or damage of any sort incurred as the result of any such dealings or as the result of the presence of such third-party advertisers on the Service.
8. Third-Party Links
The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services. These links are provided solely as a convenience to you. We have not reviewed all of these third-party websites and do not control and are not responsible for their content or their privacy policies. If you decide to access any of the third-party websites linked to the Service, you do so entirely at your own risk.
9. Termination
We may, in our sole discretion, refuse to provide the "Service" to anyone at any time.
We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your access to the Service for any reason, including, but not limited to, a breach of these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease.
Any termination of your access to the "Service" under any provision of these Terms may be effected without prior notice.
10. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Service Operator's actual geolocation when dispute basis happens, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall first be resolved through good faith negotiation between the parties. If negotiation fails, either party may submit the dispute to institutions or courts designated by the Service Operator.
11. Miscellaneous
11.1 Entire Agreement
These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Open Accept regarding the use of the Service and supersede all prior and contemporaneous agreements, proposals or representations, written or oral, concerning its subject matter.
11.2 Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision shall be deemed severable and shall not affect the validity and enforceability of the remaining provisions.
11.3 No Waiver
Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not be considered a waiver of those rights.
